I just got back yesterday from a trip on the ST3 to Boise, ID.

I left Monday late morning after a meeting at work and rode to Reno, NV to check on some work. I took the 15 to the 395 all the way in to Reno, NV. It was HOT all the way to Bishop, CA, afetr that it was great!! Bishop, CA to Carson City, NV was a great ride through the mountains, fast and fairly twisty.

Day two, was Reno, NV to Boise, ID, this ride was fairly boring, I-80 to US 95 to US 55 to I 84, some stretches of 95 were fun but for the most part it was straight and flat, but very fast... there was hardly anyone on the 95 and it was a 200+ mile stretch.

Day three was the toughest day of all, Boise, ID to San Francisco, CA. Basically it was the same ride back to Reno, NV then taking I 80 through the Sierra Nevada's (which was the highlight of the trip, the scenery and the ride was amazing) after that it was just normal freeway into SF where I jumped on the 101 to look at some more work stuff.

Day four I was wishing that I could take another day of rest in SF, but that was not to be, I basically just took the 101 to the 92 to the 580 to the 5 (400+ miles on the 5) I just wanted to get home at that point. the coast sounded good, but it meant slower speeds and more time on the bike than I was willing to spend. The only thoughts from this day are the 5 through LA has got to be the worst stretch of freeway known to man, tons of traffic, crappy roads...

I need an adjustment to the steering head, a new chain (12000 miles) and tires. The bike ran great, and I received a ton of compliments (mostly from BMW and Harley guys). There's just something about taking a trip on the bike, I love it! I won't be doing another long one like this for awhile though, my body is still recovering... Crying or Very Sad

I will post pictures soon, I didn't take too many though since I hate to stop other than for gas... Big Grin

There is something much more rewarding when traveling long distances on a motorcycle than in a cage.

I rode up to Laguna Seca last month, a week after my arse was still sore. But well worth it! I've found an all new respect for the Sport Tourer's after that trip.

Thanks for sharing T!
