Post Smuggler's Run
Have spent the last several weekends out on Smuggler's Run just for the hell of it. The asphalt is nearly track worthy on this small stretch of road. Great for practicing quick and tight cornering. Something fun to do after you get past Barrett Junction.

Smuggler's Run is the little stretch of road right after the right turn which would take you to the Tecate Border Crossing. The moment you pass that intersection the road goes uphill and becomes twisty. That couple miles of tight turns is known as Smuggler's Run by the locals. It's that stretch of road that they used to run drugs and illegals back and forth from the border check point.

No, it's not a Straight Road.

Here is the Arial View.

And it's the road where you get the Hwy94 Photos. Here is one of ours.

The great thing about that little stretch of road is that it allows you to practice riding your bike through a couple sharper than average turns. It may not look like it, but those turns are kinky and they are built with top quality asphalt which is in very good condition.

Rather than just riding out through a hundred miles of road in 1 shot, areas like this allow you to pick a section of road and wait for traffic to thin out or even clear up all together. By choosing an area where you can minimize traffic involvement, you can reduce risks and spend more time enjoying yourself. To add icing on the cake, you get a guy like Chuck taking photos of you while you practice and you can chart your progress as you get more comfortable with your bike. By checking out photos of your form, you can see where you may need improvement or perhaps just see first hand what you look like when you are railing through a turn. Either way, it's fun.
